
In Partnership with Golden Bean North America, RoasTronix is proud to host the Pro X Cup once again at our Houston headquarters.
This is your chance to showcase your roasting skills under pressure using the S7X smart all-electric roaster. Each competitor will submit 400g of roasted coffee for judging. Participants will be assigned a 1-hour time slot to complete their roast during the following dates:
- Friday, October 3, 2025 (Reserved for Texas/local roasters)
- Monday, October 6, 2025
- Tuesday, October 7, 2025
A total of 36 competition slots are available.
The winner will be announced on Saturday, October 11 during the Golden Bean Awards Ceremony at the El Dorado Ballroom.
Roast Format and Rules
- Target Brewing Method: Pour Over
- Accepted Submissions: Single origins or blends
- Green Coffee: Golden Bean will provide a variety of options. Competitors may select up to 500g of each coffee to build their roast.
- Time Limit: 60 minutes
- Note: Beans roasted after the 60-minute mark will not be accepted.
Judging Process
- All coffees will be evaluated on Saturday, October 11, 2025, using the SCA Coffee Value Assessment – Combined Form.
Official Brewing Recipe for Evaluation
- Dose: 20g
- Ratio: 1:16
- Grind Size: 350 microns (83mm flat burrs at 1050 RPM)
- Water Temp: 92°C
- Bloom: 50g water, bloom duration until 0:25 seconds
- First pour: 110, wait until 0:55
- Second pour: 90g, wait until 1:15
- Third pour: 70g, wait until 1:35
